About Our Quilts | Comforters | Rajai | Razai
At TOAI, our quilts (also known as comforters, rajai, or razai) are thoughtfully crafted to offer comfort, breathability, and timeless beauty. A quilt is traditionally made using three layers—two layers of fabric on the top and bottom, and a soft filling in between. At TOAI, we take utmost care in selecting each layer to ensure superior quality, comfort, and durability.
Mulmul / Muslin Cotton Fabric
The top and bottom layers of our quilts are made from pure Mulmul (Muslin) cotton. Mulmul is a fine, lightweight cotton fabric known for its exceptional breathability, softness, and skin-friendly nature. It is gentle on sensitive skin, naturally temperature-regulating, and allows air to circulate freely, preventing overheating.
Mulmul cotton is also highly absorbent, quick-drying, and becomes softer with every wash, making it ideal for everyday use.
History & Heritage of Mulmul
Mulmul, also known as Muslin, has a rich history rooted in the Indian subcontinent. Historically woven in regions such as Bengal and Rajasthan, it was once prized by royalty and traded across the world for its sheer texture and unmatched comfort.
Traditionally used for garments, baby wraps, and bedding, Mulmul has stood the test of time as a fabric synonymous with luxury, purity, and natural comfort.
Natural Cotton Wool Filling
At TOAI, our quilts are filled only with natural, organic cotton wool. We do not use synthetic microfibers. This natural filling makes the quilt extremely soft, breathable, and lightweight, suitable for all age groups, including babies and children.
Cotton wool has excellent moisture-wicking and absorbent properties, helping regulate body temperature. This makes our quilts especially comfortable for hot sleepers and menopausal women, and suitable for use across all seasons.
Hand Block Printed Craftsmanship
Our quilts are hand block printed by skilled rural artisans from Jaipur and Sanganer, Rajasthan. The designs are inspired by floral, ethnic, vintage styles, as well as classic lines and checks.
We offer a wide palette of colors—pastel shades for an elegant, refined look, and vibrant hues for a warm, cheerful, and creative aesthetic. Minor irregularities in printing may occur due to the handmade process, and these subtle variations add to the unique charm and authenticity of each quilt.
Reversible Design
Our quilts are reversible and can be used from both sides, offering two beautiful looks in one product. Pair them with matching bedsheets to enhance the overall aesthetic of your comforter.
Stitching & Durability
TOAI quilts are machine stitched on all four sides, ensuring strength and long-lasting durability. The quilting itself is finely hand-quilted by local artisans of Jaipur, keeping the cotton filling evenly distributed while adding character.
Natural Colors
We use premium-quality colors for printing that are natural, azo-free, and chemical-free. This ensures minimal color leaching and fading, even after years of regular usage, while remaining safe for the skin and the environment.
